The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) invites applications from highly qualified and motivated candidates for taking up R&D activities and also for providing engineering services to solve the problems of the industry and the society besides participating in the development of laboratory facilities at its Structural Engineering Research Centre unit.CSIR-Structural Engineering Research Centre (CSIR-SERC), Chennai, is a premier National Laboratory under the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research. The major areas of R&D thrust of the Centre include Structural Concrete Engineering & Technology, Sustainable Materials and Composites, Retrofitting/rehabilitation of Structures, Computational Structural Mechanics for Analysis and Design & Software Development, Transmission Line Towers, Metal Structure Behaviour & Fatigue and Fracture, Structural Health Monitoring and Evaluation & Forensic Analysis and Wind Engineering and Earthquake Engineering.

Eligibility:
Scientist -> Candidates should have M.Tech./M.E. or equivalent recognised Post-graduate degree in required discipline with specialisation and relevant work experience. Upper age limit for the candidates should be 35 years as on May 26, 2014.

Sr.Scientist -> Candidates should have completed Ph.D (Engineering) in the Discipline of Structural Engineering/Chemistry/Material Science/Biology or allied disciple

Pay Scale:
Scientist - Rs 18750 + G P of Rs 6600 in the Pay Band PB-3 Rs 15600-39100 = Rs 64,705/-
Sr. Scientist. - Rs 21900 + G P of Rs 7600 in the Pay Band PB-3 Rs 15600-39100 = Rs 74,250/-  

Selection Criteria:
Candidates will be shortlisted in the basis of their qualifications and experiences in the relevant area apart from minimum qualification required and then called for an interview.

Scientific Assistant-B: The candidate should have a Diploma in Civil Engineering/ Bachelor of Library Science/ Diploma in Computer Science & Engineering or Information Technology/ B.Sc with Geology or B.Sc in Mineral Beneficiation/ Diploma in Mechanical/Automobile/Drilling Engineering/ B.Sc., with Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics from recognized university/institute
  
Pharmacist-B: The candidate should have passed his or her HSC/Intermediate (10+2) exam and have done his or her two years Diploma in Pharmacy from a recognized Institution and 6 months training in Pharmacy and Registered as a Pharmacist with Central or State Pharmacy Council
  
Technician-B (Geology Sampler): The candidate should have passed HSC or SSC and scored a minimum of 60 per cent marks with Science and Maths subjects and Recognised Trade Certificate of not less than one year duration.
